Celebrates with Ground Breaking Ceremony

A pleased crowd of the United Financial Group workforce spent much of the afternoon in Winneconne last week as they celebrated the ground breaking ceremony for their highly anticipated Highlands at River Crossing Senior Living Complex, for which construction has recently begun.

Highlands at River Crossing will house one and two bedroom units for those 55 years of age and older, and will offer affordable rates for people with moderate incomes. The first phase of the project is scheduled for a July 2013 grand opening. Leaders for UFG have worked hard with the village of Winneconne to give this project its wings, and while modeling this complex off of a similar one in Mequon, UFG has focused on making these units affordable for those with smaller incomes. “We knew we could not do exactly as we did in Mequon here in Winneconne. It’s been great to be able to come up with affordable options for the folks in this area,” shared Jon McMurtrie, UFG president, at the ground breaking.

“The amount of people that attended this groundbreaking showed the great numbers that have been involved with making this project possible,” said Winneconne Village Administrator Steve Volkert. There is a great deal of excitement by everyone involved on the opportunity this project will provide for all local seniors. We look forward to cutting the ribbon on this facility in July of 2013.”
