Tori Maki
Named Assistant Parks Director
The village of Winneconne parks board has hired Tori Maki as its assistant director of parks and recreation. Jenny Reese, the current parks director, will remain director of parks and recreation, but will split some of her responsibilities, mainly in the summer, with Maki. The positions will be split 60 percent, director, and 40 percent, assistant director.
Both have a job description and carry similar responsibilities, but the biggest relief comes for Reese as she will now be able to have days off in the summer. “Instead of working seven days a week, the assistant can run the show when I am not there,” explained Reese as to why the assistant position was created.
This additional position comes at no extra cost to the village, aside from the three percent increase approved for the parks director position. Reese and Maki will split the salary – part of which is funded by the school district because the summer recreation programs are considered “summer school” programs.
Maki is a 2004 Winneconne High School graduate and will graduate from UW-Oshkosh with a degree in education this month. She has six years of experience with the parks having worked as a lifeguard, water safety instructor and waterfront director over the years.
