Grand opening February 13

The community has been buzzing about the new Anytime Fitness located behind Subway since its official opening in November. Over 225 new members have discovered the facilities’ benefits thus far, but if you haven’t had a chance to stop in and see what it has to offer, don’t fret. The co-ed fitness center’s Grand Opening is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the entire community is invited inside.

Owner Tom Elsen, enjoying a second career as a business owner after working for 24 years as an Operations Supervisor for Conway Freight, sees only advantages in the way the Anytime Fitness franchise operates. “What sells this place as a fitness center is the ‘anytime’ concept. We really mean 24/7, 365 days a year.” Elsen carefully outlined the intense security measures in place to help give clients complete confidence. “Our security is state of the art. We have an AED defibrillator on site, a direct 911 phone line, a set of life-line devices on lanyards for clients to keep physically on their bodies while exercising, high security at the entrance, video surveillance throughout, and a very well lit parking lot.” Elsen said since opening, they’ve only had one false alarm security wise, but the sheriff’s department and the local police were on site in less than four minutes.

Security aside, fitness is the name of the game. With staffed hours from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday between Elsen and assistant Teri Henry, inside Anytime Fitness you’ll find four treadmills, four elliptical machines, three exercise bikes (all cardio equipment is equipped with personal flat-screen TVs!), a full series of circuit training machines, and a vast array of weight lifting equipment including a Hammer Strength Power Rack, dumb bells, a four-stack cable machine and a dual cable machine. “Coming from a fitness background, the free weight section is really my pride and joy,” Elsen shared. “I spent extra money on this part of the facility and added some pieces I knew people would enjoy as a result of my lifting experience.”

The 3,000 square foot facility also offers private showers and changing areas, a tanning room, and a small group/stretching area that will soon host hi-energy classes led by trainer Jamiee Stevenson. Once you’re a member, you can access Anytime Fitness facilities nationwide – there are over 1,500 of them to choose from with several right here in the Fox River Valley.

“We want everyone to be comfortable with their level of fitness here, and not be intimidated by any of the equipment. Our goal is to encourage life-long fitness and that’s only going to happen if you have a good experience,” said Henry and Elsen, who say that a good amount of seniors are joining.

Curiosity peaked? Make sure to stop down on February 13 and see for yourself. They’ll be offering zero enrollment, first month free, and tan for $10 as a special sign-up incentive during the Grand Opening. World’s Strongest Man (1982) Bill Kazmaier will be on site to perform feats of strength. Ooh la la will be on hand to discuss natural food options, and Elsen’s wife Cindy, a nurse, will share Anytime Health ideas including information on vitamins, power drinks and the like.
