Every empty bit of office space in the Winneconne Police Department and its hallway were draped with gifts and bags with gifts and numbers identifying them.

Annual Christmas Crusade Strikes Again
Merry, Merry Christmas!
Winneconne and its surrounding communities can rest easy tonight knowing that area children and families have been taken care of this Christmas season. The 13th Annual Christmas Crusade, spearheaded by the Winneconne Police Department – namely Chief Pete Running, had tremendous success this year with gifts and monetary donations.
The total amount of cash donations received from area businesses, organizations and individuals reached an amazing $6,203.20! The Men’s Club of Winneconne came in with an astounding $1,600 and Building the WAY and the Keller Foundation blew everyone away with a $3,500 donation. Other contributors were Matt Callan, John and Marge Eid, Robert Reed, Jeff Kallas, The Hill, the Schmick, Sasse and Necas families, Mueller Funeral Home, and the library book sale. There were also many people who took tags off of the Giving Tree and donated specific items.
Sixteen families benefited from the Crusade this year and Chief Running and officers delivered the gifts to families last weekend. “It’s not a job I mind doing at all,” said Running of the daunting task of delivering presents galore. All the Crusade recipients live within the Winneconne Community School District. What a wonderful feeling!
