Fun Summer Destinations
The Parks
What better way to get out
and enjoy all summer has to offer – stop by your area parks! Whether
it’s to meet up with friends, catch a ball game, or simply enjoy an
afternoon, nothing satisfies the kids and adults simultaneously like
a nice park. Here are just some of the area parks we think you
should get out and enjoy this summer. If you know of a great park
and want to share it with us, please !
1. Arthur Marble Park,
Winneconne. Winneconne’s historic park is the host of many summer
activities. The beach is open daily, there are two playgrounds to
enjoy, baseball games are held almost nightly and this is the park
for summer recreation activities. Bring your fishing tackle too and
cast a line.
2. Lake Winneconne
Park/County Park, Winneconne. A popular park to play at while
watching Incrediball action on Mondays. Tons of kids frequent these
two playgrounds during the week. There is also fishing and swimming
available.
3. Butte des Morts
Lions Park, Butte des Morts. This quiet, off the beaten path park is
nestled in the center of town and is nice for relaxing and playing.
The park has everything you need for an afternoon. This park is host
to Carp Fest.
4. Winchester Park,
Winchester. Seated right next to the town hall off Hwy. II, this
park is very nice. The playground area is spacious yet confined
enough that both small and big kids can run around and parents can
see them all from one vantage point. There is a nice covered shelter
for shade and picnics.
5. Larsen Park, Larsen.
This park is off Cty. Rd. T in the heart of Larsen. The park is
right next to the WIOUWASH trail, great for a walk or bike ride with
the kids. This park is close to home, but a nice change of pace for
the kids and mom or dad.
6. Clayton Town Park,
Clayton. Located on Larsen Rd., this park is the perfect getaway.
The park sits on beautiful acreage of trees and rolling grass. The
playground was updated just a few years ago and has something for
everyone. It is very peaceful and beautiful. There is also a nice
shelter.
7. Scott Park, Omro.
This park is legendary, like Marble Park. Centrally located off Main
St. in Omro, the park is a giant sand box and playground all rolled
into one. Kids can play and also watch the water all around them.
8. South Park, Oshkosh.
Located on South Park Ave. in Oshkosh, this park is wonderful. There
is a massive playground, plus the water area is great for a hot,
steamy day. Bring the bikes too, when the kids have had enough
playing, ride around and watch the ducks.
9. Menominee Park,
Oshkosh. This is perhaps Oshkosh’s “legendary” park. On Lake
Winnebago, this park literally has it all. Make a day of it. Stop by
the playgrounds (there are two), grab a picnic table and have lunch,
take a walk through the zoo and top the day off with a ride on the
train when everyone’s tired out. Great paths for walking or biking.
10. Rocket Park, Neenah.
This park has all the families talking. The newly updated park is
quite an attraction. The playground structure is fascinating with
its rocket shape. Climb way up to the top, hold on and slide down
the slides. This is a super comfortable park for parents. The ground
area is nicely padded for extra comfort! This is another great park
for the bikes too. Plan a picnic for this one.
11. Washington Park,
Neenah. A fun park for everyone! This park is very popular for
meeting up with friends. The playground is fun for kids of all ages
and is not too big – great for parents to keep an eye out and have a
conversation too.
12. Greenville Lions Park,
Greenville. This park is great! Seated at Greenville’s highest point
(we think!) you can look around and see everything. The kids love
the playgrounds and there is a nice trail around it for a quick
nature hike.
